Among the things I learned today,,

Let me tell you, today my brain was like whoaa, I learned many things :D

Global warming is projected to commit over one-third of the Earth’s animal and plant species to extinction by 2050 if current greenhouse gas emissions trajectories continue — a catastrophic loss that would irreversibly reduce biodiversity and alter both ecosystems and human societies across the globe. In fact, more than a million species may be at risk of future extinction due to global warming, and we’re already seeing the first extinctions.

In my opinion, we all need to take action, and do something about our enourmous problem that we are facing right now, which is Global Warming. These trends of changes between animal change of habitat and so on should be a little red light warning us and telling us to take extreme action in this situation.

Global Warming: Effects on Animals

Global Warming 101

What I learned today, 3/09/10

Today I learned a lot of things! Starting with how to manage a website and edit our website for our project. And then I researched about what my role is about in my project and was pretty much surprised. Global Warming effects on animals is just more than just warmer climates, It creates wide changes among food, habitats, and migration among all animals on earth.

Habitat loss is one of the most obvious effects of global warming in animals; Species that rely on ice for habitat survival have had to migrate because of habitat loss when ice melts with extreme hotter climates. On rainforest for example, trees are no longer growing, because of the climates, they are more exposed to diseases, and animals that rely on these trees for shelter and food suffer when this isn't available anymore. Desserts are expanding world wide because of the warmer climates, causing a handful of big changes like, animals having to move from areas and now 'fighting' in their new environment with other animals settled there already, and alter greatly the animal population, which will eventually alter the food-web by there not being enough food for these animals.

FOOD, is greatly being affected by Global Warming. Animal populations suffering from global warming are dying or are being greatly affected causing a gap in the food web, and greatly affecting other animals that depend on them for food, and so on and so on. Also, trees and other plants are being also affected causing a late time to give out fruit or food, and many animals relying on trees for food can starve to death.

Migration among animals is very common, and lately the climate change as greatly affected these migration routes. Because of the extreme climate changes, animals like birds are changing their routes and often dying because of the harsh conditions they're not used to, and many times migrating to higher and cooler elevation where already established animals are there. Other example are seals, they need ice bergs to live on and when these melt they go in search of new habitats, and unfortunately drowning on their expedition.

All of this information is what i learned today, I am just so surpriced on how global warming is really affecting the world; Animals are being really threatened by this situation, and eventually we will.
